2012 Strainmeter Science Workshop

The 2012 Strainmeter Science Workshop was held at the Martin Johnson House at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, La Jolla, California, October 10-12, 2012. This workshop will provide a forum for those who have worked with strainmeter data to share their research results, discuss issues related to working with these data, and suggest what additional data products and tools would be most useful for doing so.

The objective of the workshop is to explore such topics as data processing techniques, interpretation of strain signals, combining strain with other geophysical data, modeling, analysis tools, and data products. We will also seek suggestions on what to included in future UNAVCO Short Courses for training the scientific community in interpreting and analyzing strain data. A report outlining the primary findings of the workshop will be prepared and circulated for community discussion.

The meeting will consist of two days of poster sessions and group discussion, with interspersed talks from invited speakers. All participants are asked to bring two slides and a poster. Poster size is 4' x 4'. The third day (October 12) will be a field trip to Pinyon Flat Observatory and the Anza section of the San Jacinto Fault.

Planning Committee: Evelyn Roeloffs, USGS; Duncan Agnew, Scripps; Kathleen Hodgkinson, UNAVCO
