Data - GSAC Working Group
GSAC activities are coordinated by a working group composed of the data managers of the participating archives , who are convened by the UNAVCO Community Coordinator (last GSAC community cooridinator was Dr Robert King of MIT, rwkchandler.mit.edu). Since November 1997, seven meetings have been held to encourage participation and to develop protocols and detailed formats for data exchange. The basic tables and tools needed to exchange meta-data about individual archive data holdings have been developed primarily by the Boulder Facility, the Southern California Earthquake Center (SCEC) and the Scripps Orbit and Permanent Array Center (SOPAC). Though current GSAC participants are within the US, and activities are coordinated through UNAVCO and funded by US government agencies (NSF, NASA, NOAA, USGS), we hope that the effort will soon become international in both scope and management.
