Polar Studies

GPS is being used extensively in polar and glaciological studies in Antarctica, Alaska, and Greenland. UNAVCO is assisting projects to determine the pattern and rate of ice-sheet thickening, to assess the mass balance of ice sheets, to measure ice stream motions, and to measure ice-surface roughness (29).
