Phase 3 included the installation of a Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) system for communications,
along with integration of a Nanometrics Trillium Broadband seismometer and a 24 bit Trident Digitiser.
A seismic vault was excavated in order to house the new instruments. The same Ashtech MicroZ receiver
was used for GPS data collection. The receiver was configured remotely to stream BINEX data directly over
the VSAT link. GPS and seismic data are streamed to the VSAT Hub in Boulder, Colorado where the data is deposited
into a ring buffer on the VSAT control computer. The data is then extracted and binned into hourly files.
The UNAVCO archive picks up the GPS data for processing and archiving, and the seismic data is sent to the
IRIS DMC for processing and long-term archiving.
