GPS Equipment Upgrade
- Principal Investigator (PI): Dave Stowers
- UNAVCO Engineer: Jim Greenberg
- Dates: January 2003
- Location: Mahe, Republic of Seychelles
The station SEY1 is located on the island of Mahe in the republic of
Seychelles. The GPS station is collocated with a seismic station run by
the University of California, San Diego. The purpose of the visit to
the station, in January of 2003, was to update and exchange of the
existing computer and GPS systems. The New computer is running Linux
7.3 and utilizing EGADS software to obtain daily GPS files from an
Ashtech Micro Z. Meteorological data from a Paroscientific Met Pac is
also imbedded into the data stream.
In addition to the station upgrade, options for providing full time
internet access to the site were investigated in order to obtain real
time data from the station in the near future.
