2010

  • Semi-annual UNAVCO member equipment purchase Jan.-Mar. 2010 [2010 Jan 1]
This is an announcement that we have an opportunity from January 1st to March 31, 2010 to pool orders for volume discounts on GPS equipment. Orders should be placed directly with the vendors. If you intend to participate, please notify the vendors as soon as possible so that the tiered discounts can be anticipated. More information on UNAVCO member equipment purchases can be found on the UNAVCO web site: equipment purchases.

2009

  • GeoEarthScope LiDAR Data Release: Intermountain Seismic Belt (ISB) [2009 May 7]
We are pleased to announce the availability of new GeoEarthScope airborne LiDAR data products from the Intermountain Seismic Belt (ISB) project! This release includes high resolution LiDAR topography data collected in tectonically active regions of Utah and Wyoming, including Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks and the Nephi segment (southern strand) of the Wastach fault. These LiDAR data can be explored and downloaded in several ways.

2008

  • Data Archive Interface Version 2 (DAIv2) - Public Alpha Release [2008 Nov 6]
The Data Archive Interface Version 2 (DAIv2) is the UNAVCO Facility's next generation interface for search and access of UNAVCO's GPS data holdings. The DAIv2 includes a powerful and flexible Web application (see figure 1) for discovery and visualization of UNAVCO's GPS data and metadata holdings. The DAIv2 also includes a suite of Java-based command-line clients for advanced users needing automated discovery and download (see figure 2). Both the Web application and the command-line clients utilize our new Web services infrastructure.
  • Second GeoEarthScope LiDAR Data Release: Northern California [2008 Feb 19]
We are pleased to announce the latest public release of processed products from the GeoEarthScope Northern California Airborne LiDAR project! This release represents a substantial portion of the Northern California dataset. More data will be coming in the next few months, along with more advanced access and analysis tools.

  • GeoEarthScope Geochronology Notice of Opportunity [PDF] [2007 Jan 18]
In order to meet the goals of the EarthScope project, funded by the National Science Foundation, UNAVCO, Inc. intends to issue a Request for Proposals to identify organizations capable of providing geochronology services in support of the GeoEarthScope component of EarthScope. UNAVCO invites organizations that are interested in this opportunity to submit a Statement of Interest in order to be considered for inclusion in the RFP proposer’s list. The deadline for Statements of Interest is 26 January 2007. Click here [PDF] for more information.
  • Web Mapping Services Available [2007 Jan 1]
Beginning in August, 2006, UNAVCO staff have been working together with colleagues at IRIS and Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory's Marine Geoscience Data System to bring cross-disciplinary data sets from the three groups into a single, integrated data presentation on the globe. This collaboration has created a catalog of readily available Web Mapping Services, following Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) specifications, drawn from each of the three data centers. By following a standard protocol for sending and receiving XML messages via HTTP, anyone can use one of many freely available GIS tools for viewing and exploring these data sets geospatially. The group named its effort "GeoWS" for Geoscience Web Services, and presented the results at the Fall AGU Meeting. UNAVCO's contribution to the overall effort can be accessed on our maps page.

2006

2005

  • PBO Analysis Products Available from the UNAVCO Archive [2005 Dec 16]
On Friday 16 Dec 2005 the UNAVCO Archive completed a transition from interim archiving procedures for PBO Analysis products to the current production system for product archiving. Position solutions in SINEX format, GPS station position time series, and a network velocity solution are available via anonymous ftp at the following URL: ftp://data-out.unavco.org/pub/products/.
  • Facility RINEX creation switching to `teqc +smtt` translation [2005 Nov 14]
On Monday 14 Nov 2005 the Data Group switched to creating RINEX on the ftp server data-out.unavco.org using teqc with the `+smtt` option. For receivers that do coarse clock steering using millisecond resets, the RINEX created will now have smooth time tags with millisecond (equivalent) jumps in phase and pseudorange observables. This is equivalent to the type of RINEX output by the clockprep program. For more information, please contact archive@unavco.org.
  • PBO Raw and RINEX Files are Now Available via a Backup ftp Server at the IRIS DMC [2005 Sep 30]
As part of the PBO Data Management Plan, PBO products are to be made available for anonymous pickup from both the primary PBO Archive at the UNAVCO Boulder Facilty and the secondary PBO Archive at the IRIS Data Management Center. PBO raw and RINEX files have been available from the UNAVCO Boulder Facility Archive (the primary PBO Archive) since January, 2004. As of Sep 30, 2005, PBO raw and RINEX files are available via a backup ftp server at the IRIS DMC. The current process for populating the holdings at the IRIS DMC is via a mirror of the holdings in Boulder. Future plans include implementation of independent delivery and archiving of data and metadata to complete the PBO Secondary Archive at IRIS. The URL to pickup PBO data from the backup ftp server at IRIS is: ftp://data-out2.unavco.org/pub/.
