GPS Project Training Course - Data Downloading
9. Data Downloading Data collected with geodetic GPS receivers must be downloaded to free up receiver memory and to transfer the data to an archive location. As a field precaution, the data should also be backed up as soon as it is downloaded from the receiver. Data are typically downloaded to a computer hard drive and copied to portable backup media such as zip disks or CDs. To download a receiver, manufacturer specific download software and procedures are usually required. Useful References:
