Permanent GPS Stations - Comms - Phone Modems

Phone modems come in an almost infinite range of models, configuration and prices. In general you would want to choose a modem that can handle high speed data transfer and uses standard communication protocols and baud rates. If your phone modem (and phone line) is located in a place without AC power it will make the remote site configuration less complicated and expensive if the phone modem can be powered with 12V DC rather than an AC inverter. And even if there is AC power it is good to have DC (battery) power backup.

The list below contains modems UNAVCO currently uses in the field. The links contain more information about each modem including specifics such as dipswitch settings, register settings, and field configurations.
