Permanent GPS Stations - Station Data
The significant advantage of unmanned GPS sites lies in the capability to download data on a regular basis which provides a way to monitor ground motion rates and station performance on a near "real-time" basis. Remote communications equipment comes in a wide variety of hardware configurations depending on the application. Once a location has been selected for the base computer implement a downloading and transfer mechanism for distribution, pre-processing , and archiving. The availability of an internet connection facilitates the process by allowing regular data transfers to regional processing centers. However, if internet access is not possible, a back-up method should be determined to minimize data loss in addition to the chosen communications method. More information can be found in the Software section regarding downloading and transfer, pre-processing, and processing the data. Please see the Data Support section for more information regarding GPS data storage and access. Send questions or comments to Support (support Last modified Thursday, 17-Nov-2005 03:57:00 UTC |
