Bernese - Tutorial: Data Download and Installation

Once the campaign directories have been installed, the example data set can be retrieved. The dataset made available by Berne has also been copied over to the UNAVCO anonymous ftp area. To install the data set, the following commands need to be executed.

If the user is familar with the Bernese directory structure, they can download the data files, and install the data directly by reading the Bernese Documentation. If not, the user can use the command sequence below to install the data set.

Check that the data are installed in the correct places

The ORB/ directory should have two precise orbit files

yochi[braunj]:V41-$ ls ORB
R3_96165.PRE R3_96166.PRE

The RINEX files should be in the RAW/ directory, there should be six RINEX files for each of days 165 and 166 (12 files total).

yochi[braunj]:V41-$ ls RAW
BRUS1650.96O JOZE1660.96O ONSA1650.96O WTZR1660.96O
BRUS1660.96O KOSG1650.96O ONSA1660.96O ZIMM1650.96O
JOZE1650.96O KOSG1660.96O WTZR1650.96O ZIMM1660.96O

The station coordinate files, height translation files, and station name translation files should be in STA/.

yochi[braunj]:V41-$ ls STA
EUROCLUS.FIX ITRF0696.CRD ITRFCODE.HTR ITRFCODE.STN

Make sure that the receiver and antenna translation file is copied into the $X/GEN area. This file is used by RXOBV3 to map RINEX receiver and antenna names into a more consistent set of names that are defined in the antenna phase eccentricity file.

yochi[braunj]:V41-$ ls
ATM OBS OUT STA
DATPAN ORB RAW docu40_1.tar
DOCU40_1.TRN ORX README.TXT
yochi[braunj]:V41-$ cp DOCU40_1.TRN $X/GEN/.

Once the data has been installed, you will need to check that the PCF, BPE Scripts, and option files are ready to use. These topics are covered in the next section.
